How To Prepare For The Wedding Day

Please Provide Your Artist With

  • A clean, flat surface for us to work on. A table, desk or counter space is usually sufficient.
  • Chairs for our clients to sit in. Bar stools usually work best for makeup services, but we understand that having them is not always ideal. Any chair, such as a dining chair, that is comfortable for the client will work for us.
  • Close proximity to working power outlets. We bring power strips, extension cords and plug adapters if needed.
  • Well lit working space. While we understand that not every location has the best natural light, it is best for us to provide your service in a well lit area with optimal amount of natural lighting.
  • Ample working space. Please be mindful that there may be multiple artists providing services, or that you may have a larger party or family, so there may be a lot of people around. We request that there is plenty of space dedicated to the provision of your beauty services.

How to Prepare for Hair Styling Services

  • If you are wearing your hair in an updo, half up/half down, or all down and curly/wavy/straight, please arrive with CLEAN and TOTALLY DRY HAIR (not damp, not wet at all) from the day before. (Ex. If the wedding is Saturday, then wash hair on Friday).
  • Please put minimal products in your hair after you’ve washed it. If you feel your hair gets oily, we will use a dry shampoo that will work better than having your hair freshly shampooed. One day old hair holds a style better. If your hair is freshly washed, it may not hold the style all night.
  • If you are receiving a blowout service, you may come with damp, product free hair to be blown dry. We will add products to your hair. All blowouts will be scheduled at the beginning of the Bridal Beauty Session.
  • Please complete our Bridal Party Consultation Questionnaire, or send, via email, photos of inspiration that you’d like to use for your hair. Your hair appointment will last approximately 30-45 minutes. If you do not send photos, and cannot describe what you are looking for, this will take time away from your service. If you want to leave it up to your Stylist , rest assured that a look will be created that will suit your face, personality, and dress.

How to Prepare for Makeup Application Services

  • Please be sure to complete the Bridal Party Consultation Questionnaire, or send photos of makeup inspiration via email prior to the wedding day. Remember, a smoky eye or natural face may mean one thing to you, but something totally different to your Artist. Photos of what you like, as well as what you dislike, will give a clearer vision of what you are looking for.
  • Please arrive with a clean face – no left over mascara, eyeliner, etc. This will take time to remove, and will cut into your service time, or someone else’s (like the bride’s).
  • If you have sensitive skin, and prefer to use your own moisturizer, please do so and let you Stylist know BEFORE your service begins.
  • If you feel more comfortable using your own foundation, please bring it with you and give it to your Artist BEFORE your service begins. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that your foundation will provide the proper coverage or longevity for professional photography or all day wear.
  • Your makeup service includes the option of HD Foundation or HD Airbrush Makeup. Your Artist will use her discretion to determine the best application method to achieve the look that you request.
  • Your makeup service includes the option of false lashes. Your artist will use her discretion to choose the best eyelash application to compliment your eyes as well as the makeup look that you request.

Wedding Day Prep Tips

  • Please arrive on time. Lateness results in a fee!
  • Please arrive with clean, 100% dry, detangled hair. We recommend to wash your hair the day before your service, but if you have fine hair or an oily scalp, it’s okay to wash the day of the service, but again…(see below)
  • NO WET HAIR. Please make sure that UNLESS you are receiving an actual blowout as your service, we require that you arrive with clean, 100% dry, detangled hair. Blowouts result in a fee!
  • Please do not arrive with your hair in a bun or ponytail. They may create tangles and dents in the hair that take time to remove prior to styling.
  • Please arrive with a makeup free face – NO liner, mascara, lashes, lipstick, or foundation of ANY kind. This takes time to remove and may take time away from other services.
  • Shower, brush teeth and put in contacts PRIOR to your appointment.
  • Don’t forget to remove any earrings, necklaces, or facial piercings prior to your makeup application.
  • Don’t forget the necessities! Just to be on the safe side, bring pills for a head ache or menstrual cramps, tampons or any woman’s hygiene needs, deodorant, gum/mints, etc.
  • Please refrain from leaving the chair once your artist has begun your service. Constantly getting up slows us down and cuts into other services. If our service time runs late due to constantly having to stop a service, an overtime fee will apply!
  • Please send pictures in advance! We send our Client Consultation Form for each member of the party to complete and request that pictures be sent as well. Please make sure that this form is completed prior to the wedding day. If you have not completed the form and sent pictures, please make sure that you have pictures available on the wedding day and be advised that our artists will do our best to provide you with a look tailored to your unique features using that inspiration. If you do not provide pictures at all, please be advised that our artists will provide a look tailored to your unique features given the verbal description that you provide us with.
  • Your appointment will last for roughly 45 min – 90 min. Please be aware that there may be other clients scheduled after you. We will work with you during your scheduled time to create your hair and/or makeup look, however if you’d like additional changes that take longer than your scheduled service time, we will do our best to provide them during the scheduled 15 minutes of touch up time once the entire party is finished.
  • Although the bride may want to enjoy this “getting ready” time with her bridal party, please be aware that it may be a good idea to have a separate area for the bride to get ready. With all of the craziness going on, the day can become hectic, causing unwanted nerves for the bride. If you are a calm bride, and you’d like to enjoy this time with your party, by all means, have a blast!!
  • The night before and the day of the wedding, try to stay away from spicy and hot flavored food, as it causes inflammation, and can make the skin on the face look bloated or puffy. It can also make your stomach upset, which is never a good thing on the wedding day!
  • Celebrating the night before the wedding is always fun, but be sure not to go overboard. Consuming too much alcohol will dehydrate your skin, and staying up late will make you look and feel tired. Be sure to drink plenty of water, and get plenty of beauty rest!
  • Relax! Allow us to pamper you and your party with our luxury skin care, cosmetics, and hair care products. Our skilled artists will work with each client on the day of your wedding to create the perfect style to make everyone look and feel fabulous.

Wedding Day FAQs

~ When will my artist arrive on the wedding day?

We schedule our artists to arrive roughly 20 – 30 minutes prior to your start time. This gives us enough time to determine the best area to set up in, and get prepared to begin your services.

~In what order will services be handled on the wedding day? Who goes when?

Prior to the wedding day, we will email the bride a tentative copy of the timeline to look over. Each person who is receiving a service on the wedding day will be included on the timeline. We tend to put mothers at the beginning of the day, bridesmaids in the middle, and the bride and flower girl towards the end, however this all is subject to change based on various factors.

~Do all of my bridesmaids need to arrive at the same time?

Usually, it is ideal that everyone who is receiving a service be at the getting ready location by the time that we start services. This is helpful so that in the event that someone in not ready for their appointment, we can take another client who is ready. This will also help the bride to avoid late fees for bridesmaids who arrive later than their scheduled time.

~I’ll be working with a different hair stylist or makeup artist on the wedding day. How will this affect our timeline?

It usually won’t. We’ve worked with different stylists and teams not affiliated with M.A.W.Beauty Hair & Makeup Studio in the past, and our schedule usually works out fine. We will provide the bride with a timeline for our services, and you may provide your other artist with that schedule to work around.


~ Can I add my mother in law/bridesmaid/aunt for services on the day of the wedding?

We don’t take additional services on the day of the wedding due to our strict timeline. We allow additional services to be added to the timeline up to 5 days prior to the wedding. Services must be paid for via credit card at the time of booking.

~Does your team stay on site after the services are done?

We allot 15 minutes towards the end of our timeline for lip color application and any minor touch ups such as pinning and spraying away any flyaway hairs, or minor makeup adjustments. Our team is available to stay on site for our touch up services by booking our Bridal Beauty Experience, or by adding hours using our A La Carte menu. This service is consecutive to your getting ready services.

~Does your team require a meal?

We appreciate that our brides consider us! If we are just staying for getting ready services, we do not require a meal. If you are hiring artists to be on site for touch ups after the getting ready services, we ask that you provide us with a light snack, or a few minutes to take a break so that we can provide our own. If we are staying on site for touch ups during the meal at your reception, we require a vendor meal.
