It’s a New Year!
It’s a new year, guys! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on the blog – in all honesty, I just haven’t had the time to do it. We are finally out of 2017, and we’ve made it to 2018. I’m really excited for the year to come, and can’t wait for it to get in full swing!
In my blog post for January 2016, I told you guys that I like to really focus in on one word for the year. Going into 2016, the word that really resonated with me was “Ascend”, meaning to travel up, or “Ascension”, which is the act of changing location in an upward direction. Well – in 2016, we did just that. We ended up changing the location of our studio, and in my opinion, it was in an upward direction. Our space is bigger, better and really has made a positive impact on M.A.W.Beauty Hair & Makeup Studio’s business as a whole. I think that the word for the year of 2016 was very much on point.
I didn’t blog about 2017’s word, but for me, it was “Grow” or “Growth”. Grow means to to become; to spring up and develop to maturity. Over the 2017 year, I would say that I did a LOT of growing and growth, both personally and professionally. 2017, for some reason, really stretched and matured me in so many different ways. I’m not even sure if I can explain this in a blog post, or without going into too much detail – but let’s just say, both me and my business grew in great ways.
I like to reflect back on where my business has been, where it currently is, and where it is going. I’m a very spiritual person, and I try my hardest to trust in God about what he wants me to do with all aspects of my life, including business. I pray about it a lot. As I sat down to write this year of reflection blog, I heard the word “MOVE”, and I believe that is the word that I need to be focusing on this year. MOVE. The definition of “Move” is to change the place or position of; to go from one place or another in continuous motion; to carry on one’s life or activities in a specified environment; to stir the emotions or passions of; to prompt to the doing of something. Now, as far as my actual business goes, I definitely don’t think (I really, really HOPE!!) that this doesn’t mean another physical move – we love our location, and we love our landlord (we had a pretty bad one prior to moving into our current location – you can read about that HERE). What I believe that this means for me professionally is to just make moves – stay in consistent motion and do everything that I know I need and want to do. Simply put, I have so many goals and visions and I believe that its just time to put everything that’s in my heart into action and make moves. You know, like Cardi B says, make “money moves” lol.
There are already a lot of things that are in action – I’m getting ready to launch a new vintage and modern jewelry and accessory business called Retro . Now. I’m really excited about this! My goal is to have everything set up by the end of January, including the website. We also are still growing our Boudoir business in the studio. We work with an awesome photographer, Lindsay, and we are hoping to do many more boudoir sessions in our studio this year. We also are planning to do more with our Women In Weddings networking events – the plan is to do them quarterly this year, and to really find ways to build a strong network of female business allies within the wedding industry. Last, but not least, as far as our services go, we just want to expand on what we are already doing in the studio, and continue to focus on giving our brides the best service possible. We are making moves!
We hope that you had a very productive 2017. We hope that 2017 brought lots of growth, maturity, and direction your way – and we hope that in 2018, you make the necessary moves to continue in the direction you are going! We truly love and appreciate each and every single person who has supported M.A.W.Beauty Hair & Makeup Studio from day one until today and beyond – its been an awesome 6 years so far, and we can’t wait to see what this year has to bring for us!
