Bridal Preview: Shahrzad E.
My bride, Shahrzad (pronouced Sha – Zad), had her bridal preview and was married last year. Shahrzad was concerned about finding a bridal stylist who was able to handle the hair styling portion of her wedding day. She, her sister and mother were all being styled for hair and makeup – Shahrzad and her sister are both mixed, and her mother is African American, so she was concerned that she wouldn’t be able to find a stylist who could work with their ethnic hair. Luckily, Shahrzad had an amazing event planner, Liz at Elegant Aura, who referred her to me. I’m so glad that Liz sent her my way because Shahrzad’s wedding was one of my favorites of last year. When we talked about her hair and makeup, she told me that she wanted “WEDDING hair”. She wasn’t into the loose, messy looks that were popular at the time. She wanted a style that looked like she was getting married.
Shahrzad hired me and my second artist, Felisia, to stay for touch ups on her wedding day because she was doing two looks – one for the ceremony and one for the reception. For Shahrzad’s ceremony look, she wanted something half up and half down, but something that could easily be pulled into a pretty updo for the reception. Rather than having her hair simply half up and down, she wanted the top of her hair to be full and structured. Here is the look that we created for the ceremony:
For the reception, Shahrzad wanted to be able to wear her hair in an updo so that she wouldn’t have to worry about frizziness as she danced the night away. She wanted all of her hair off of her face and neck, and wanted to look elegant and classy for her winter wedding at Boston’s Colonnade Hotel. Here is the look that we created for the reception:
Shahrazd wanted her makeup to look soft and natural. She looked beautiful with soft pink colors and a natural, yet smoky eye. Check out her gorgeous makeup:
For the actual wedding day, we made some very slight changes to her look. Shahrzad ultimately decided that she did want to have a bit of hair framing her face, rather than having it all off. She also decided that she wanted a bit of a deeper pink for her lips – since her wedding was in February, and her color scheme was white with touches of gold and lots of candlelight, she wanted her makeup to feel “warm” just as she wanted the actual wedding to feel that way, too. Thanks again to Liz for sending this beautiful, sweet bride my way!
