Events: The 2014 Oscars

The Oscars were last night and there were some seriously gorgeous looks that walked down the red carpet. Check out some of my favorite looks below:

Charlize Theron looked absolutely stunning in her black Christian Dior dress. The exaggerated neckline was beautiful, sexy and flattering for her body. I loved that she kept her jewelry simple with just a statement necklace, and her hair and makeup were natural, leaving the focus simply on the dress.

Jennifer Lawrence, also wearing Christian Dior, looked amazing. The bright red color screamed that she is done with winter, just like everyone else, but also totally flattered her skin tone. Her hair had lots of volume in it, but was still kept sleek and looked incredibly chic. Makeup was kept natural, with a natural “just bitten” color on the lips. Jewelry was kept simple with a beautiful necklace and a set of very small drop earrings.

Oh, Lupita! Lupita Nyong’o wore a beautiful Prada gown, which she said was “inspired by champagne bubbles”. The pretty pastel blue color stood out in an amazing way against her skin. The plunging neckline was sexy, yet so classy, and her jewelry was, like everyone else, kept super simple as not to take away from the dress. Her hair was adorned with a pretty headband, and orangey/pink-toned blush and orangey/red lip color were used to compliment both her skin tone and the color of the dress. This look was perfect.

Sticking with pastels, Penelope Cruz looked gorgeous in her pastel pink dress from Giambattista Valli Couture. She was seriously breathtaking.I loved that the only jewelry she wore were drop earrings, a ring and a bracelet, as not to take away from the neckline of the dress. Her hair was styled in a high chignon, makeup was natural with an incredibly subtle smoky eye. Penelope’s look was very well done.

Cate Blanchett had a bit of a vintage feel to me with the soft waves in her hair. Her gorgeous  champagne colored cap sleeve dress designed by Armani Prive was so glamorous. I could totally see it on a bride in white. A simple bracelet and some statement drop earrings pulled this look together in a perfect way.

There were so many other amazing looks that came down the red carpet last night. A few of my other favorites were Sandra Bullock, Camila Alves, Bette Midler, and Meryl Streep. The men of the Oscars also showed up looking handsome and dapper. Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Matthew McConaughey, and Jared Leto. White tuxedos were a hit for the men. I believe that fringe and Great Gatsby inspired vintage looks are here to stay for the upcoming season, along with beautiful, flowing, non-constricting fabrics. Natural beauty is (and always will be) a hit, and effortless looks are still the way to go for red carpet events. Overall, there were so many picture perfect looks last night, so it was really hard to choose my top favorites, but the looks above really stood out in a major way to me.

Who were your faves?!
