Real Wedding: Gizele & Sean 6/22/13

Gizele married the love of her life, Sean, on June 22, 2013. The way that she came to me was pretty much a total accident. Gizele lives in Washington, DC but is originally from Providence. She had seen a blog post about me and my studio written on, and while she was in town visiting with her wedding videographers, she realized that my studio was located in the same building, and decided to pop in to check me out. That same day, she had a hair trial set up with her mom’s hair stylist, so I just told her to keep in touch and if anything changed to keep me in mind. Gizele and I did click instantly…she has such a cool and contagious personality, so I was kind of bummed that I didn’t hear back from her right away. Ultimately, she ended up booking her wedding day hair session with her mom’s stylist, and it was okay for me too because I actually had 3 (yes, THREE) weddings on her wedding date.

Fast forward to maybe 3 days before her wedding. I get a phone call from Gizele asking if I would still be able to squeeze her in. It turned out that her mom’s stylist, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, ended up having a family emergency and had to fly back to her country right away, leaving Gizele in a small panic. It must have really been fate that I was supposed to work with this beautiful bride on her wedding day, because it just so happened that the wedding that I was working that day would be finished about an hour before she would need to be started, and I was actually working right up the street from where she would be getting ready, so the accommodation was really not a huge deal. I was definitely able to come through for her.

Gizele tapped me into her Pinterest board so that I could get an idea of what she wanted to look like on her wedding day. I was able to see all of her inspiration, and once I got all of the details of her day, I was able to visualize her entire look put together and how I would tie in her hairstyle. She wanted a simple updo…some sort of low bun, off to the side. I had her run to Sally’s to purchase some clip in hair extensions so that we could get a little more length and volume for her hair. We were ready! On the day of the wedding, I can’t tell you how relaxed she was! Gizele was in good hands with makeup and hair, she had lots of loved ones around, and she looked absolutely amazing! Thank you, Gizele, for sharing these beautiful photos with me, and for allowing me to be part of your special day!
