What To Expect At My Boudoir Session

Did you know that we offer boudoir photography services at M.A.W.Beauty?!

Over the last few months, we’ve had so much fun working with our in-house photographer, Lindsay Parker of LP Photography, to offer boudoir sessions for our growing clientele. Boudoir is still a new service in our studio, and we really wanted to make it a special experience for anyone who books a session with us.

So, what exactly should you expect when you book your boudoir session with us?

For starters, you will be welcomed into our private, cozy and spacious loft studio.

When you arrive, you can make yourself comfortable. We have water, coffee and tea available for our guests, and many times, we also will have light snacks available. During a boudoir marathon, we like to offer champagne or mimosas as well!

Once you’re comfortable and settled, we’ll start out by taking a quick look at some of the items that you’ve brought with you to wear. We like to get an idea of the colors that you’ll be wearing and the style of clothing and lingerie so that we can get a better understanding of how to style your hair and makeup. We’ll lay out all of your items in our wardrobe section so that we can easily see what is going on. If anything has gotten wrinkled in transport and needs to be ironed, we can take care of that as well. At this point, we’ll also start to consider what accessories will look best with each look that you’ll be wearing.

From here, you’ll be led into our styling room. This is where things get really fun! After discussing the look that you’re going for – whether natural, or a little more dramatic (because, you know – it’s boudoir!) – we’ll begin pampering you with hair and makeup styling by one of our professionally licensed and trained artists. Usually, since you might be doing poses where your hands are in your hair, we tend to style your hair in loose curls or waves with lots of volume, however, our artists can do whatever style you’d like. Whether we use traditional foundation or airbrush makeup, you’ll receive a flawless, professional application complete with false lashes. We like to take our time and make sure you are not only relaxed and pampered, but that you look perfect, so this portion of your session usually takes about 90 minutes.
After hair and makeup is finished, we will chat with our photographer and find out what look she would like to start you in first. She will usually recommend to start with looser outfits because items like garter belts or tight lingerie can leave marks on the skin. Once we figure out what you’ll be wearing, we got to work choosing accessories to style you in from our curated collection of vintage jewelry. We’ve got lots of beautiful accessories that will add that extra bit of classic glamour to your photos.
Once you’re styled and dressed, you’ll begin your boudoir session with Lindsay. Our photography room is flooded with tons of beautiful, natural light. Along with our crisp, white walls, Lindsay also uses a backdrop for a little variety, and by using our furniture and props, we are able to create a few different “scenes”. We also use an air bed to create bedroom-like images for you. Our photography room is private and completely separate from the other rooms in our studio, so you don’t have to worry about other people seeing you during your session. In fact, we usually make sure that you’re the only one in the studio (along with your artist and photographer, of course), so that you have ultimate privacy during your boudoir session.

Depending on which Boudoir Collection you choose, your shoot will last anywhere from 1-2 hours, and you’ll have 2-3 different looks. You should expect to be at the studio for roughly 4 or 5 hours on the day of your session, from beginning to end. When your shoot is done, Lindsay will edit your photos and touch base with you about creating an album if you choose to do so! Boudoir is a perfect gift for not only your significant other, but also for yourself! We’ve also had women who are expecting babies do maternity boudoir sessions.

Boudoir is a tasteful way to embrace your body and your femininity, and we are so proud to be able to offer this service to our clients. If you’d like to schedule a boudoir session for yourself, get in touch with us!
